H1N1 Influenza Virus: 6 Step Strategy from a Professional

October 26, 2009

The H1N1 influenza virus has brought global attention to H1N1 (swine flu) treatment. Since Rejuvenate Naturally has dedicated itself as a natural health site for H1N1, we are searching all over the globe for information on H1N1.

I found the following to prevent a flu epidemic. It is 6 steps for flu treatment, from Dr. Vinay Goayl.

Dr. Goay is head of the Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W). (India)

His 6 steps for influenza virus treatment are common sense and something everyone can do. Here’s what he has to say:

“The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a
global epidemic of this nature, it’s almost impossible to avoid coming
into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is
not so much of a problem as proliferation is.”

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced
(instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu)”:

Most natural medicines have not been evaluated by the FDA.

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. “Hands-off-the-face” approach. Resist all temptations to touch
any part of face.

3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you
don’t trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the
throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms.
Simple gargling prevents proliferation.

In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don’t underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day
with warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at using a Neti pot to clean nasal cavities, but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*

Click here for a demonstration on using a neti pot.

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C.. *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure it has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. *Drink as much warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can.
*Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the
reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat
into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

Rejuvenate Naturally is now a dedicated natural health site for H1N1

Following these 6 steps will go a long way in preventing and flu treatment. H1N1 is reported by many who have had it to be a mild case of flu. And although fears of a flu epidemic abound, more than likely, most will contact it since it’s a new strain.

Rejuvenate Naturally has just released a 91 page eBook, H1N1 Threat Reduced by Using Natural Healthcare. It’s a comprehensive reference book written by a certified National Product Specialist, that belongs in every home. Read excerpts from the link above.

Natural Health Site for H1N1

October 22, 2009

Rejuvenate Naturally has dedicated our natural health site for H1N1 for the time being. We understand this is an important time to release information on natural treatment and prevention of flu in face of a flu epidemic.

Additionally, many natural health products have not been evaluated by the Federal Drug and Food Administration. Here is the link to their fraudulent H1N1 influenza items.

The recommendations at our natural health site for H1N1 can be used separately or in conjunction with conventional medical treatment.

We found this quotation about H1N1:

“Using a transmission electron microscope at 10,000x magnification, virologists found that the H1N1 virus–the cause of the ongoing pandemic–has the same long, skinny shapes as seasonal influenza”, recent 2009 Science Illustrated quote, from Dr. Yoshihiro Kawaoka.

More flu statistics:

Seasonal influenza kills 100,000 annually. Measles, mumps, small pox, polio and other outbreaks have all occurred in vaccinated populations – Canadian Medical Association Journal, 1994; American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1991; Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1994; Epidemiology, 1993.

Natural Health Site for H1N1: Professional Recommendations

As you go through the natural health site for H1N1 posts, you find recommendations from a certified National Product Specialist, Deborah Oakes.

She spent a year studying for her certification after already working with private clients since 1997. Therefore, her recommendations are based on training and experience with alternative health.

She has just been accepted for a Natural Health program at Associated Content where her natural health articles will be featured started October 26th.

Additionally, she is a Natural Health Examiner at Examiner.com.

Natural Health Site for H1N1 Takes Your Questions

Additionally, our natural health site for H1N1 requests that you leave questions here in the comments section for Deborah. She has agreed to check the Natural Health Site for H1N1 blog  several times daily. We understand this is a crucial time for many families.

She receives no compensation for any of the products she recommends except for Young Living and that’s for wholesale customers, not retail.

With all the uncertainty if  there will be enough vaccines, side effects of the vaccines and fears of H1N1 (Swine flu), many are hunting for natural remedies.

In fact, Dr. Richard Besser, past head of Centers for Disease Control, stated that people need to find alternate methods for health because of these questions.

Natural Health Site for H1N1 (Swine Flu)

The easiest way to navigate the blog is to scroll down. You will find several posts on H1N1 (Swine flu) including recommendations for preventing and treating flu. Additionally, there are posts for treating side effects of vaccines.

There is a list of posts with links at the end but you have to keep coming back to this post when you are done reading.

Natural Health Site for H1N1 eBook

And maybe more importantly, our natural health site for H1N1 has a comprehensive ebook dedicated to H1N1 (Swine flu). It covers prevention, treatment, treatment of flu vaccine side effects, secondary bacterial infections, statistics from the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic, which are startling, and more.

It’s entitled: H1N1 Threat Reduced Using Natural Healthcare.

Swine Flu Treatment: 7 Things You Should Know

October 20, 2009

Okay, so H1N1 (Swine flu) treatment is for a virus. And believe it or not, it’s been found that coconut oil, yes coconut oil, reduces HIV viral loads. Not only has it been found to reduce HIV viral loads, but further research found the following:

Coconut oil contains monolaurin. Mary Enig, Ph.D., of the prestigious Weston A. Price Foundation, found monolaurin inactivates not only the 1) HIV virus, but 2) measles, 3) herpes simplex virus, 4) cytomegalovirus (CMV), 5) influenza viruses and 6) pneumonovirus, as well as 7) bacteria. If coconut oil is proven to inactive these 7 viruses and bacteria, I’m thinking H1N1 (Swine flu) might react in a similar way.

Remember, many natural health supplements have not been evaluated by the FDA. Here is their list of fraudulent H1N1 products.

At Rejuvenate Naturally, we consider this a win-win. Food that is healthful and great to eat is hard to beat. Okay, I couldn’t help the little rhyme.

Coconut is good and healthy in all forms:

  • Coconut milk
  • Coconut water
  • Coconut flour
  • Coconut meat

There are a few precautions such as the water from a young coconut is more nutritious than from older coconuts. And it isn’t used for cooking but for electrolytes. It’s called Nature’s Gatorade.

H1N1 and coconut oil

So, do you think it’s possible that H1N1 might also be deactivated by coconut oil? It might be the next swine flu treatment. It’s certainly worth a try.

To my knowledge no testing has been done with the H1N1 virus and coconut oil, but there are so many other coconut health benefits, it might be beneficial for other things.

Coconut oil and weight loss

For the past few years, many people lost weight taking 1 tablespoon of coconut oil twice daily. Coconut oil acts like monounsaturated fat in the body which dissolves other fats.

The way to get it down is spread it on hot toast or dissolve it in a cup of hot chocolate. It can also be added to oatmeal or smoothies. It has a very light taste with little or no coconut taste depending on the brand.

Coconut oil brands

Coconut oil from health food stores is unprocessed so it’s pure white. If there is a yellow tinge to coconut oil, it’s been processed. It still has fungicides but not as many as the unprocessed coconut oil.

H1N1 Flu Vaccine: Things You Should Know

October 19, 2009

I’ve been snooping around the web and found some interesting information on flu and the H1N1 flu vaccine. We will provide it here at this natural health site for H1N1, since I thought some of my readers might want to see this. Since we are currently under an H1N1 (Swine flu) scare, the more information, the better.

From the National Vaccine Information Center:

The flu vaccine is prepared from the fluids of chick embryos inoculated with a specific type(s) of influenza virus. The strains of flu virus in the vaccine are inactivated with formaldehyde and preserved with thimerosal, which is a mercury derivative.

Related article: Mercury Poisoning: Is It Real?

Every year, federal health agency officials try to guess which three flu strains are most likely to be prevalent in the U.S. the following year to determine which strains will be included in next year’s flu vaccine. If they guess right, the vaccine is thought to be 70 to 80 percent effective in temporarily preventing the flu of the season in healthy persons less than 65 years old (the efficacy rate drops to 30 to 40% in those over 65 years old but the vaccine is thought to be 50 to 60% effective in preventing hospitalization and pneumonia and 80% effective in preventing death from the flu in the over 65 age group).

However, sometimes health officials do not correctly predict which flu strains will be most prevalent and the vaccine’s effectiveness is much lower for that year.

Flu Vaccine ingredients

  • Ethylene glycol (antifreeze)
  • Phenol, also known as carbolic acid (this is used as a disinfectant, dye)
  • Formaldehyde, a known cancer-causing agent
  • Aluminum, which is associated with Alzheimer’s disease and seizures and also cancer producing in laboratory mice (it is used as an additive to promote antibody response)
  • Thimerosal (a mercury disinfectant/preservative) can result in brain injury and autoimmune disease
  • Neomycin and Streptomycin (used as antibiotics) have caused allergic reaction in some people.

From the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

“Results for the 1989-1990 season were described as “mixed at best,” with “Medicare payments…significantly higher for those who had been vaccinated,” noted Kidder and Schmitz in the 1993 report Options for the Control of Influenza II.

Dept. Human and Health Services

Several studies and government projections from the Department of Human and Health Services confirm that, with or without a flu shot, pneumonia and influenza hospitalization rates for the elderly are less than 1 percent during the influenza season.

This means that, regardless of vaccination status, more than 99 percent of people weather a bout of flu without requiring hospitalization. Even the past director of CDC’s National Immunization Program, Dr. Walter Orenstein, reported at a 1981 influenza conference that the “at risk” population for influenza complications is small.”

Hmmmmmm, not sure about this

Now I don’t know about you, but it doesn’t look too encouraging to get the flu vaccine. Whether you choose to get the vaccine or not, recommendations from our natural health for H1N1 site is used along with conventional medicine by many people.

Here is my list of recommendations to prevent flu. Remember, I’m a certified National Product Specialist so the products are listed because of my training and experience.

Making Milk: How to Make Soymilk

October 15, 2009

Making milk, whether it’s soy, coconut, almond or rice milk, is easier than most think. It’s a matter of getting into a habit and figuring out short-cuts.

making milk, natural health site for H1N1, flu vaccine, rejuvenate naturally, swine flu, flu treatment, flu cure, homepathics

The flavor is fresher when making milk and you know what the ingredients are because you add what you want and can leave out preservatives, sugars and other things commercial companies have to use.

For soymilk you can use a soymilk maker, but it’s not necessary. I’ve used a blender for years although I make all my soymilk into tofu.

Supplies for Making Soymilk

  1. Start with dried soybeans and if you’re picky about health like I am, then choose non-genetically-modified soybeans that are probably only available at the health food store.
  2. Depending on the amount of soymilk you are making, you will need at least one big pot. If you are cooking a whole pound of soybeans, then you will need 2 large pots with a 16 cup capacity.
  3. A porous bag or tea towel is needed to pour the cooked soymilk into. It can either line a colander and be pushed with a spatula or squeeze to get the liquid out. It needs to be finely woven but porous like cotton muslin.
  4. A food processor or blender.

Making Milk

  1. Begin by checking soybeans for any that need to be thrown out and stones or dirt. Then wash. Afterwards, soak soybean in water, preferably in the refrigerator, 8-24 hours.
  2. Any longer than that and the soymilk begins to lose flavor. You should be able to bite through them when they have soaked long enough.
  3. Wash soybeans and if you want to remove skins, cover with hot water. Then rub them as most skins float to the top.
  4. Put a pot on stove with 6 cups water in it and heat. While the water is heating,  1/2 soybeans and some water to a blender or processor. You will probably have to stop and scrape the sides.
  5. When the soybeans look nice, gooey and white, they are ready to add to the pot of hot water. Do not fill to more than one half. It foams as it heats up and can spill over.
  6. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently. It will separate liquid from a grainy looking glob which is ground up soybeans.
  7. Ladle into the colander that is lined with cloth or into the tea towel. Squeeze all the liquid out. This is the filtered soymilk and is ready to drink or can.
  8. Add whatever flavoring you like such as: honey, vanilla and/or salt. It keeps 3 days in the refrigerator. One shortcut is to begin soaking a batch of soybeans so when you finish the soymilk, you’re ready to make more.

The pulp that is left is called okara and is actually more nutritious than the soymilk. So, learn about recipes on how to use it or add to compost pile.

Caution: Soy is known as having phytochemicals which are extremely healthy as is a vegetarian diet. However, soy blocks the uptake of minerals so for this reason, I recommend limiting the amount of soy in the diet.

Additionally, eating soy as an extender to meat dishes also seems to restrict soy’s ability to block uptake of minerals.

One healthy eating tip is to learn about different food colors.

Healthy Eating Tips

Healthy Eating Tip 1: More colors means more nutrition

The first healthy eating tip is to serve lots of different colors at meals. Think how happy a rainbow makes everyone feel.
It’s easy to see how a variety of colored foods is more appetizing. The more colors used in meals, the better chance of meeting all daily nutrition needs too.

Healthy Eating Tips 2: Color nutrition content

The second healthy eating tip is to know what healthy substances are in the food colors.

* Cartenoids and vitamin A are found in red, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables. This includes carrots, tomatoes, papaya, apricots, peaches, etc. and help control high blood pressure and circulation.

* Vitamin E is found in green leafy vegetables, vegetable oils, grains, nuts and seeds and neutralizes free radicals.

* Flavanoids and poly phenols are found in red/purple produce such as radish, purple grapes, pomegranates and cranberries and are antioxidants.

* Lycopene is found in tomatoes and watermelon. They are antioxidant and possible sunburn prevention.
*
* Folic acid is found in whole grains and breads for a healthy nervous system.

* Beta glucans are in mushrooms, garlic and Jerusalem artichoke for a healthy immune system.

* Purple: uplifting, calming and encourages creativity.
* Red: encourages confidence.
* Green: relaxing, alleviates depression and renews.
* Black: mysterious and inconspicuous.
* White: purifying and brings mental clarity.
* Orange: stimulates activity and appetite.

Coconut Milk Recipes and How to Make Your Own Coconut Milk

October 2, 2009
coconut milk recipes, rejuvenate naturally, natural health care

Coconut Milk: Made from Coconuts

Find coconut milk recipes here. But also, learn about how valuable coconut milk is for nutrition. It’s just awesome.

Home-made Coconut Milk Recipe

We begin with making your own coconut milk. And remember, coconut milk is different from coconut water. Water is what’s inside a coconut when it’s cracked open. It’s very healthy.

However, coconut milk is made from the coconut meat and water.

Ingredients: Coconut, 2 cups warm water, grater, strainer and blender

Break: Coconut into 2 pieces, extract white meat and grate.

Blend: One cup grated coconut with one cup warm water until liquified.

Force: Blended mixture through strainer.

Repeat.

You should have a nice, creamy liquid that is ready for use. Fresh foods are always healthier because of enzymes so it’s easier on the digestive tract. If you do choose canned coconut milk, find one without preservatives as they load the body with toxins.

Click here: How to make your own Almond Milk.

Coconut Research

The research of Cajori, Van Slyke and Osborn have shown conclusively that protein of most nuts is of the very finest type and contain all essential amino acids. Among nuts possessing complete proteins are butternuts, pecans, filberts, Brazil nuts, English walnuts, black walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, chestnuts and coconuts.

Coconut globulin is perhaps the best of the nut proteins. Johns, Finks and Pacel, Protein Investigation Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, found this protein produced rats that grew more rapidly than when given cheese, meat, eggs, milk or any other high-protein food.

Coconut Milk Recipe/ Chicken or Tofu Satay

1 cup coconut milk
1 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp ground turmericcoconut milk recipes, rejuvenate naturally, natural health care
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp kosher salt
Pinch ground black pepper
2-3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Or, 2 blocks Tofu cut into cubes
12 long bamboo skewers

In a small bowl, whisk together everything except chicken/Tofu, until ingredients are incorporated and sugar is dissolved. Stir in chicken/Tofu, and transfer all to a ziploc bag. Squeeze out air and seal the bag. Massage until it’s coated and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Soak skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat grill to high. Thread 4-6 pieces of chicken or several blocks Tofu on each skewer, keeping them bunched toward the bottom end. Grill, turning frequently, until crisp, 2 minutes per side. Serve with peanut sauce for dipping.

Coconut Milk

Coconut Milk contains no cholesterol but has 552 calories per cup. Although 88% is saturated fat, the fat doesn’t act like it in the body. It acts as monounsatured fat and is often used to lose weight.  The fat contains a high percentage of lauric acid which is found in breast milk and may promote brain development and bone health.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time when the focus is on this disease so what better time than to get the facts out? According to Elaine Magee, MPH, RD, author of 25 books on Nutrition, various phytochemicals in cruciferous vegetables are linked to lower cancer risks.

Breast Cancer Prevention

Some have shown the ability to stop growth of cancer cells for tumors in the breast, uterine lining (endometrium), lung, colon, liver, and cervix, according to the American Institute for Cancer Research.

Studies that track diets of people over time found diets high in cruciferous vegetables are linked to lower rates of prostate cancer.

What are Cruciferous Vegetables?

Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale, cabbage, and bok choy fall into this category of vegetables. However, to get the health benefits needed, nearly 2 pounds of raw or lightly steamed broccoli need to be eaten per day.

Diindolylmethane to the Rescue

However, there is an alternative to eating large amounts of vegetables. Nature’s Way has a product called DIM-plus. DIM stands for diindolylmethane which is a plant nutrient found in cruciferous vegetables.

It has unique hormonal benefits which differ from sou isoflavones. Scientific research shows dinndolylmethane increases “favorable” estrogen and reduces “less favorable” estrogens in the body.

Breast Cancer Prevention

Two capsules per day for women and two capsules twice per day for men is recommended. It doesn’t get much easier and we hope this information helps others during and after Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Precautions: Do not use this product if you are pregnant or lactating.

Tylenol Recall and Liver Support

September 24, 2009

There is a Tylenol recall right now. It seems people are over medicating on acetaminophen which, according to ABC, resulted in 458 deaths last year. (Take free poll below)

The Tylenol recall is because regulations are changing to protect people from liver damage from acetaminophen.  June 30, 2009, the Food and Drug Administration endorsed lowering the maximum dose of acetaminophen found in Tylenol, Excedrin and other products.

Liver Support

Liver support is important not only because of acetaminophen but also toxin intake.

Toxins are found in:

  • alcohol
  • chemicals
  • prescriptions
  • pesticides

in our land, air and water.

Liver Support for Tylenol Recall

Fortunately, there is a wonderful product from a company called Himalaya. It’s called LiverCare®, also known as Liv 52,  and eliminates these toxins and helps burn fat in the liver.

Chemicals clog the liver and are associated with diseases like Cancer. If that’s not bad enough, we use approximately 2.2 billion pounds of pesticides and factories spew 3 million tons of toxic chemicals in water, air and land every year. No wonder liver support is so important.

Why Liver Support Is Needed

The liver is the largest internal organ in the body. Americans consume around 145 pounds of food additives every year. These are chemicals such as:

  • Aspartame
  • BHA and BHT
  • Food coloring which is a form of paint
  • Monosodium Glutamate, MSG
  • Sodium Nitrate or Sodium Nitrite

LiverCare was developed in 1955 and has 300 clinical trials behind it. It has been clinically proven in 182 published clinical trials and is sold as a pharmaceutical in six countries.

LiverCare for Liver Support

It is comprised of 6 liver support herbs, doesn’t interfere with medications and is gluten-free and vegetarian.  What’s great about LiverCare is it has silymarin, the active component of Milk Thistle, in it. However, unlike Milk Thistle, it doesn’t interfere with medications.

According to Dr. Oz, if anyone is taking over 6 prescriptions, they have a 94% chance of over-medicating. Livercare is a wonderful product to protect against this and from too much acetaminophen which is causing a Tylenol recall.
